You're right, greenhouses can be expensive, but they don't HAVE to be. Here are a few possible alternatives for you and your cousin. (See end of message for supply source contact information.)
Building is always a less expensive option, but you specifically mentioned wanting a kit, so that is what is offered here.
Walk-in greenhouses:
Gardener's Supply Company offers "The Grow House" 12 ft x 12 ft standard version for about $299. (Larger sizes also available.)
Charley's Greenhouse Supply offers "The Portable Greenhouse", 8 ft x 5 ft 11 inches with 7 ft 2 inch headroom for $295. This greenhouse can be folded up when not in use. They also have an "E-Z Up Framing System" for $32.95 which includes special connectors that can join standard 2x2 lumber without angle cutting. A cutting list and instructions are included (but not the lumber or glazing).
Powell & Powell Supply Company offers "The Little Greenhouse", available in 2 sizes: 8 1/2 ft x 10 ft for $399; 8 1/2 ft x 14 ft for $499.
Hoop House Greenhouse Kits has kits at prices from $259.
Perhaps you don't need to start with a full sized walk-in greenhouse.
Tunnel enclosures are an alternative.
